Free Throw Shooting Contest
Entry Fee: $10.00 per person
Age groups that compete together are shown below (subject to change)
- 2nd-5th grades compete together
- 6th through 9th grades compete together
- 10th grade through 40+ compete together
Boys and Girls compete together in same age group.
Prizes:
1st Place will receive a $ 50.00 gift certificate.
2nd Place will receive a $ 25.00 gift certificate.
3rd Place will receive a $ 10.00 gift certificate.
Contest rules:
- Shooting contests are open to anyone, not just 3-on3 players.
- Players must sign up using online registration, mail in registration or they may sign up on the day of the event.
- Player must meet the grade/age group as of the day of the event.
- Contestants must be at the event at the start time. Players not present will forfeit. If the player is playing in another event at the time of this event, please see the tournament director for alternate times of participation if available.
It is anticipated that this event will take place during one of the potential tournament intermissions (est. times 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm).
Each contestant will remain in for at least 2 rounds.
- Contestants will shoot two free throws per round, and will have 8 seconds to complete each free throw.
- A free throw line violation (crossing the line before the ball hits the rim) or time violation will count as a missed free throw.
- Any missed free throw or violation will count as a “Missed Shot” A player is eliminated upon their third Missed Shot.
- The 5 remaining contestants in any grade/age group will proceed to the finals round. The scores from the first round will not be carried over the final round.
- In the event of a tie (more than one player eliminated in the same round) for the fifth place, a one miss, Missed Shot tie-breaking round(s) will be conducted only for those that are tied, until the finalists are determined. The rules are the same as this contest with the exception of having a single Missed Shot.
- For the final round, the order of contestants will be determined by the contestant’s order of finish in the first round. The top seed will be the player winning the first round and that player will go last.
- Any ties in the final round will also be determined by a one miss, Missed Shot round(s) will be conducted only for those that are tied, or if time does not permit, the Tournament Officials may determine to split the prizes for those contestants who are tied.
- Contestants initial order will be determined by tournament directors.
- Contest will be judged and all decisions are final. There are no appeals.
- Tournament directors reserve the right to modify the rules and manner of prize awards at any time. Judges may change the rules during the event if the length of time exceeds that allowed.
